MeeGo

Overview

Meego OS is a project carried out by several parties to create an open-source OS designed for mobile devices, and information appliances in the electronics market. Meego was first introduced at World Mobile Congress (WMC) in February 2010 by Intel and Nokia. Meego is a continuation project of the Nokia’s Maemo OS.

History

Founder/Inventor/Main Programmer

Meego is a joint project between Nokia, Intel, Linux, Novell, and AMD. Those fifth company wanted to create an operating system that could be used by all hardware platforms, such as: mobile phones, netbooks, televisions, etc.

Version

Since we here focus on the OS that is used for mobile phones, so we only show the version used on mobile phones, namely:
• Meego 1.0, this operating system installed on the Nokia N900, and launched on 26 May 2010. OS was given the codename “Arch.”
• Meego 1.1, this OS is an updated version of the OS version before, and the OS is installed on the Nokia N900 and Aava. Meego 1.1 codenamed “Gagalam,” and was released on 28 October 2010.
• Meego 1.1.1, OS is still a version of the OS updates the previous version. OS was given the codename “Handsomita,” and was released on 28 November 2010
