History


In 1938, Lee Byung-Chull founded a company called Samsung in the city of Daegu. However, during the Korean War, he moved his company to Busan. In 1960, Samsung started making electronic devices. After the death of Lee Byung-Chull Samsung split into 4 companies, namely: Samsung Group, Shinsegae Group, CJ Group, and Hansol Group. In 2009, Samsung Group managed to occupy the fourteenth position in the Fortune Global 500 Companies.

Founder


Lee Byung-Chull, founder of the Samsung Group was born in Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea on 12 February 1910. At the beginning of his career as a businessman he decided to open a rice mill. Therefore, because it is considered failed and he was tried trucking business (the embryo of the birth of the Samsung Group) in Daegu. Lee had enrolled at Waseda University, Tokyo, though he finally could not continue until graduation. Lee Byung-Chull died in Seoul on 19 November 1987.

CEO


There is only 1 person who has the full authority of Samsung Group, namely:
1. Lee Kun-Hee, chairman of Samsung Group
Mr. Lee was the third son of Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-Chull. He was born in Uiryeong, South Korea on January 9, 1942. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Waseda University, Tokyo. He served as the no. 1 at the Samsung since 1987. He had stopped in 2008, however, he decided to return again in 2010.

Financial


In 2005, Samsung Group managed to reap a net profit of $ 6.79 billion. In 2006, their annual net income increased to $ 7 billion. The following year, their income dropped to $ 6.59 billion. In 2008, that number declined again, their income only reached $ 4.9 billion. However, in 2009 managed to raise their income back to $ 8.67 billion. Their financial reports in 2010 up to Q3, profits reached $ 3.96 billion,
