History


ASUSTeK Computer Inc. was established by 4 ACER’s employees, namely: TH Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and MT Liao, on 2 April 1990. Asus name is inspired by Greek myth animal, Pegasus. Asus is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. In 2007, there has been restructuring in the Asus which is then divided into three distinct units, namely: Asus, Pegatron, and Unihan. Asus debuts the world’s mobile phones started in 2007, and until now the Asus still continue to compete in the global handset market.

There is three names that now become great leaders in ASUSTek Computer Inc. namely:

1. Jonney Shih, the chairman of Asus
Jonney became the highest leader of Asus since 1993. He received a bachelor’s degree from the National Taiwan University, and a master’s degree from the National Chao-Tung University. Under his leadership Asus managed to become formidable competitors in the IT industry.

2. Jonathan Tsang, Vice Chairman of Asus
Tsang has served as Vice Chairman of the Asus since 2008. He has heavy tasks and responsibilities, because he had to deal with various sectors on the Asus, ranging from technical support to sales.

3. Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus
Just as Tsang, Jerry became CEO of Asus in early 2008. With more than 10 years of experience in the IT industry that he applied in Asus, he managed to bring Asus growth rapidly.

In 2007, Asus was able to record net income of approximately $ 199.59 million. In 2008, their annual net income fell precipitously to $ 84.38 million. In 2009, Asus revenues decreased once again to $ 78.68 million. This amount increased in 2010, so that net income reached $ 100.29 million Asus.
